Di Wu joined the Graduate Group in 2024. Coming from Qufu, China, he received his BA from International Christian University, a liberal arts college in Tokyo, Japan. Di spent his senior year at St. Anne’s College, Oxford, where he first developed an interest in the cultural and political history of early Imperial Rome.
Di's primary academic interest concerns the dynamics between individuals coming from different social classes and ethnic backgrounds. His undergraduate thesis explores the Augustan restoration of the crossroad Lares cult, presenting it to have emerged from a series of interaction and, very often, miscommunication between the princeps and Rome’s urban non-elite. Di’s broader interests include ancient economic history, Dio Cassius, as well as early Christian theology and historiography.
