This summer I traveled to Portugal where I presented at the Celtic Conference in Classics at the University of Coimbra. I participated in the panel “Law, Institutions, and Economic Performance in Classical Antiquity” and presented a paper entitled “Economies of Law in the Later Roman Empire.” This paper is a condensed form of my third chapter of my dissertation. Since then, I have written and submitted an essay to the journal Studies in Late Antiquity on the Jeweled Style in Late Roman Legal Practice.
