Bryn Ford spent June and July at the American Academy in Rome's Classical Summer School, studying the history and architecture of the city from the regal period to late antiquity. In addition to a detailed exploration of the city itself, external site visits included the Etruscan necropolises at Tarquinia and Cerveteri, the republican town of Alba Fucens, the imperial harbor city of Ostia, and the Vesuvian sites around the Bay of Naples.
