09/12 Reyhan Durmaz and Simcha Gross (Penn): "Matrimony and Magic in Late Antiquity"

Pennsylvania Seminar on Christian Origins

Thursday, 12 September 2019 - 7:00 PM

Claudia Cohen Hall 254 - 2nd Floor Lounge

Beginning this fall, Penn strengthens its status as a major center for the study of late antique religion with the arrival of Reyhan Durmaz, a scholar of late antique and medieval Syriac Christianity, and Simcha Gross, a scholar of the Talmud. Join us as we welcome Drs. Durmaz and Gross, learn about some of their recent research, and launch an exciting new year of PSCO focused on the study of the home and the family in the premodern Near East and Mediterranean. The program will be preceded by an informal catered dinner at 6:00pm, also in Cohen. Please email Theodora Naqvi at tnaqvi@sas.upenn.edu or Jillian Stinchcomb at jstin@sas.upenn.edu by September 6 to RSVP for the dinner.
